Privacy Buddy does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data.
All processing happens on your device. There is no server, no account, and nothing is ever uploaded.
What we collect
Nothing. Privacy Buddy has:
- no user accounts, sign-up, or email collection;
- no analytics, crash-reporting, or usage tracking;
- no advertising and no advertising identifiers;
- no third-party SDKs;
- no servers of its own — the app never makes a network request to process your files.
Because we receive no data, we have nothing to sell, share, or disclose, and nothing to delete on request.
Your photos & files
When you share a photo, video, or audio file to Privacy Buddy, the app reads that file on your device, writes a cleaned copy to a temporary location on your device solely so it can be handed to the iOS share sheet, and deletes that working copy afterwards.
Privacy Buddy never edits or deletes the original in your photo library or Files. It keeps no record of the files you process — no history, no thumbnails, no cached copies.
What stays on your device
The only thing Privacy Buddy saves is your choice of which metadata categories to remove (the six switches on the main screen). That preference is stored locally on your device and is removed when you delete the app.
Permissions
iOS may ask for permission to access or add to your photo library — for example, when you save a cleaned copy back to Photos. This access is used only to perform the action you asked for, on your device. Privacy Buddy does not browse or read your library on its own.
You can change these permissions at any time in Settings › Privacy & Security › Photos.
Third parties
Privacy Buddy contains no third-party code that collects data. Where you send a cleaned file after it leaves the share sheet — a messaging app, a social network, email — is governed by that service's own privacy policy.
Apple may collect information about app downloads and crashes according to your device settings and Apple's privacy policy; we do not receive personal data from that.
Children
Privacy Buddy collects no data from anyone, including children under 13.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. If a future version of the app ever needed to collect data, we would say so here and in the App Store listing before shipping it.
